Our Story

A Monk Street name,
now in new hands.

Bay Barbers has been a Monk Street fixture for 33 years. The Coromandel Informer calls it a genuine Whitianga landmark, and it's not hard to see why. The company was registered in 2016 under the previous owners, the Cransons, and Jodi took over as owner in late 2025, right here at 16A Monk Street.

Nikki has handed the clippers to Jodi, who's spent the last ten years behind the chair and knows the shop and its customers inside out. Nikki's sticking around a little longer before heading off to spend more time on the water.

A renovation's on the cards too, including a proper barbershop chequerboard floor, something Jodi can't wait to bring in.

How It Works

There's no booking system, and there doesn't need to be one. Walk in, grab a seat, and bring your coffee if the wait's a few minutes.

Closed only on statutory public holidays. Otherwise, the door's open right through summer.
